The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center signed an agreement with the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence "MBZUAI" with the aim of strengthening national capabilities in data science and artificial intelligence.
This came within the activities of the “Using Big Data and Data Science for Sustainable Development Goals” forum, which was organized at Expo 2020 Dubai in cooperation with the United Nations Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics in a purposeful partnership to lay the foundations for mutual strategic cooperation between national institutions in the areas of support Youth file, developing artificial intelligence and data science applications, and building national capacities to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals.
The agreement aims to consolidate strategic cooperation between the two sides by providing specialized training programs in the field of artificial intelligence and data science for employees and students in both the center and the university, and the use of more open data in research projects to facilitate procedures and methodologies for exchanging data between the two parties in line with national goals. The partnership provides opportunities to train MBZUAI students in the field of data science.
Professor Eric Sheng, President of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, said:
"Signing this agreement with the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics represents an important step in building national capabilities in the field of data and artificial intelligence by aligning projects and training programs with national goals and for the benefit of both parties, including employees and students at the university."
For her part, Hanan Mansour Ahli, Acting Director of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center, said that this memorandum represents a roadmap for joint cooperation and benefiting from artificial intelligence solutions and applications for use by experts in the center to analyze and process data, as well as providing an opportunity to use open data in university student research and projects, as well as in Research professors and researchers.
She stressed that the agreement promotes work on developing methodologies and mechanisms for data exchange and holding workshops in the field of data science and artificial intelligence applications with the aim of opening up learning horizons for the prosperity of youth, as well as providing future job opportunities for students to meet the requirements of the national agenda and to support the achievement of sustainable development goals in the UAE.
